After us
Davy Pieters/Theater Rotterdam
An intimate and poetic performance about disappearing.
In this intimate and poetic performance about disappearing, a young woman searches for support within the temporality of life and her environment.
After us is a search for the forgotten person. For a body without a name. For that which we want to continue to exist and that which quietly but irrevocably disappears. For the person who forgets and the one who is forgotten. How do we deal with the disappearance of things? How do you find support within the sometimes absurd capriciousness of life?
Davy Pieters is known for her powerful visual, physical and cinematic style in which performance, scenography and soundscape constantly reinforce each other. In her work she searches for human hope, resilience and how we can connect more with the people around us and the world we live in. After CRISPR (2022), Not All Is Lost (2023) and HEAT (2024), After us is the final part of Pieters four-part series about growing up in a future world.
